Vidya to prove housewives aren't boring with 'Ghanchakkar'

After playing powerful characters in films like 'No One Killed Jessica', 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Kahaani', Vidya Balan is now all set to play a simple housewife in her next film 'Ghanchakkar'.

Vidya Balan, who is excited to play a homemaker in "Ghanchakkar", says her character will dispel the notion that housewives are boring. "I play a Punjabi housewife in Ghanchakkar and hopefully, I, with this one, will put to rest the notion that housewives are boring. That's a very huge misconception and I hope people realise that after Ghanchakkar," the 33-year-old said here.

Vidya has teamed up with her The Dirty Picture co-star Emraan Hashmi in the film.

About her chemistry with Emraan, she said: "I think Raaz 3(secret) of our chemistry is that we may have said three words to each other in The Dirty Picture, but in this one we have said six words. So, it should probably double the chemistry between us."

Ghanchakkar is a film that revolves around the story of Sanju (Hashmi), an ex-con man who has a very relaxed and chilled out attitude but has a taste for finer things in life. The only problem is his ambitious wife (played by Balan).

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Ghanchakkar is said to be a sequel to the 2006-hit Pyaar Ke Side Effects, which starred Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat.  Gupta is going to use Mumbai as the backdrop of his movie. The movie is supposed to shot in the guerrilla-style mode with hidden cameras, like ‘Kahanni’.
